As this Christmas Season grows near and the urgency of its impending presence becomes felt everywhere, the clamour of commercial opportunity often obscures the magic of the Season for the children and the true meaning and origin of this time becomes a lost memory to so many. Christmas, Noel or Kristouyenna … whether you believe every detail or not, it makes a good story … and for what it represents, it is worth the telling, and retelling.
This Christmas Season, the Sunshine Coast Choral Society will be illuminating this story worth the telling, by presenting A Service of Nine Lessons and Carols. A synopsis of the Christmas message will be taken from selected scripture readings spanning both Testaments, beginning at the beginning, with the fall from grace in the garden of Eden, to the prophesy of the Christ’s coming, the visitation of the Archangel upon Mary, the journey to Bethlehem and the attendance of shepherds and the wise men, following the birth of the child destined to atone for and restore that Grace which had been lost.
Each of these readings will be fittingly-illustrated with selected arrangements from the pens of David Willcocks and John Rutter, of traditional Carols sung by the SCCS, as always, under the skilled and joyous baton of their conductor, Adrian King and accompanied by their own keyboard angel, Natasha Koch. As the readings relate the story of this Season, so each Carol will aptly celebrate the reading.
Come and relive the Story of Stories and be again reminded of the real meaning of this time.
This celebration of Christmas by the Sunshine Coast Choral Society will take place at the Holy Trinity Kawana, Anglican Church By The Lake, 11 Meridan Street Bokarina, on Wednesday, 28th November 2018, at 6.30pm.
