Two of the Sunshine Coast’s oldest and most treasured musical groups are staging a combined Disaster Appeal Concert at Gregson and Waite Memorial Chapel 159 Wises Road Buderim on Sunday 22nd March at 2.00pm. Tickets are $15.00 and available at the door. Please bring cash.
Sunshine Brass, already over 100 years old, is the longest running volunteer association on The Coast. Established in 1906 and despite undergoing a few name changes over the years, its members are now celebrating their 114th year of continuous musical magic. From booming marches, sexy swing to Beatles favourites, Sunshine Brass is all about giving back. With members, both young and old, Sunshine Brass certainly knows how to support new comers who no doubt are keen to carry on the tradition of delighting local audiences.
Sunshine Coast Choral Society, only a youngster in comparison, is now in its 26th year. It too holds an enviable record: as the longest running performing choral group on The Coast. Renowned and instantly recognisable classical works, from Bach to Beethoven, are just some of the delightful harmonies their choristers perform. Not to forget the many more modern musical and opera favourites audiences love.
Gregson and Weight have generously donated their memorial chapel for the Disaster Appeal. There’s lots of free parking and wheel chair access. Remember to come early to secure your seat and help once again show the generous good will so typical of Sunshine Coast residents.
